Between Two Cities è un gioco di pesca e di posizionamento tessere per costruire due città che forniscano punti.
Ogni giocatore dovrà costruire, infatti, due città: una collaborando con il giocatore alla sua sinistra e un’altra collaborando con il giocatore alla sua destra. Per vincere, un giocatore dovrà dividere la sua attenzione e la sua dedizione in pari misura tra le due città (Between Two Cities).
Alla fine della partita, ogni città fornirà un punteggio basato sulla sua maestosità architettonica. Il punteggio finale di un giocatore è il più basso dei punteggi delle due città che ha contribuito a progettare.
Ad ogni round dovrete pescare un certo numero definito di tessere. Sceglietene due e passate le altre al giocatore vicino. Rivelate le due tessere e decidete con il giocatore alla vostra destra e con quello alla vostra sinistra quale tessera mettere in una città o nell’altra.
Una volta deciso, dovrete posizionare le tessere. La prima che posizionate deve essere giocata su uno spazio della plancia paesaggio. Le tessere successive dovranno essere adiacenti ad una precedentemente posizionata. Non è possibile costruire sugli spazi che illustrano elementi naturali.
Le tessere illustrano industrie, negozi, locali, parchi, uffici, case e edifici pubblici. Ciascun edificio, a seconda di dove è posizionato, fornirà dei punti alla fine della partita. Ad esempio, i locali forniranno più o meno punti a seconda di quanti tipi di locali ci sono in città, oppure più parchi collegati ci saranno e più punti otterrete.
Between Two Cities – Essential Edition è la versione del gioco Between Two Cieties che contiene sia i componenti del gioco originale che quelli dell’espansione Capitals.
Come tutti i giochi Stonemaier, anche questo contiene il regolamento Automa, ovvero un regolamento con le istruzione per una modalità di gioco in solitaria.
