Evergreen è un gioco strategico in cui l’obiettivo è sviluppare un ecosistema lussureggiante. Pianterete germogli, farete crescere alberi e posizionerete altri elementi naturali sul vostro pianeta, cercando di renderlo il più verde e fertile di tutti!
Ogni giocatore ha una plancia con il suo pianeta suddiviso in zone (biomi) su cui dovrà piantare germogli per farli crescere in alberi, prima piccoli e poi grandi. Il gioco si sviluppa in quattro stagioni, ciascuna con un numero di round che decresce.
Ogni round inizia con una fase di draft, in cui i giocatori scelgono una carta bioma che indica la zona in cui eseguire l’azione piantare e/o far crescere nella fase successiva. Inoltre, la carta mostra un potere da applicare ovunque sul pianeta che fornisce ulteriori opportunità di crescita o altri miglioramenti.
Le carte bioma non scelte dai giocatori vengono spostate nella zona fertilità e sono altrettanto importanti: determinano, appunto, la fertilità di ciascun bioma per il punteggio finale, guidando la scelta su dove è più vantaggioso far crescere gli alberi più grandi.
Quando una stagione termina, si segnano i punti forniti dagli alberi che prendono la luce del sole e quelli della foresta più grande (alberi vicini) nel proprio pianeta.
