Un gioco di strategia millenario – Mehen, che significa “Colui che è arrotolato”, rappresenta il serpente divino che protegge il dio Sole Ra nel suo viaggio notturno attraverso la Duat. Il tabellone a spirale rievoca proprio il corpo avvolto del serpente.
Obiettivo del gioco – Le regole esatte del Mehen sono andate perdute nel tempo, ma grazie a studi archeologici e storiografici, sono state ricostruite due modalità di gioco: ✔ Scalare la spirale per raggiungere la testa del serpente con tutte le proprie pedine. ✔ Usare i leoni per eliminare più pezzi possibile, trasformando il gioco in una sfida feroce tra i partecipanti.
Il primo gioco multiplayer dell’umanità? – Una caratteristica unica del Mehen è la possibilità di giocare fino a 6 partecipanti, una rarità per i giochi dell’epoca. I ritrovamenti archeologici confermano l’uso di pedine a forma di leoni, cani e ippopotami, insieme a molteplici pedine tonde, suggerendo una dinamica di gioco collaborativa e competitiva.
Una riproduzione storica autentica – Questo set è realizzato in pelle, ispirandosi ai reperti trovati nella Mastaba di Hesy a Saqqara, dove un affresco mostra un set completo di giochi da tavolo egiziani, inclusi il Mehen, il Senet e l’Ase
